A gentleman with a white beard wearing a red suit was calling in the Creston area. The community Christmas party was on Saturday and the Neighborhood Watch Christmas party was on the 10th. A number of local residents took in the Christmas parade in Elizabeth on Saturday.

After last weekend's snowfall there was more snow on Tuesday making for extremely slick roads and then, for the most part cold weather. It has been noted that the sun is weaker than usual which would indicate that cold weather will be the norm for quite some time, perhaps decades. However, that does not stop the Big Eared One and his lackeys from spending gadzillions to fight "global warming" or "climate change" as it is now sometimes called. Political cronies have to be taken care of at the expense of the taxpayers. Now it is even permissible for the tax funder windmill companies to kill bald eagles, the national bird.

Charles Russell was calling on Mr. & Mrs. Parris Parsons, Ray Gumm and brother Euell at Miletree. Paris was asking about his old neighbor Ann Newell who is said to be doing somewhat better now. Both Euell and Ray were somewhat under the weather. Euell didn't even eat the beans that were on his plate.

Rev. Keith Belt filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. Church.

Wilma Hopkins Rogers, age 72, of Parkersburg passed away. She was a daughter of George & Edna Copen Hopkins and was a granddaughter of George Oakley Hopkins and a great-granddaughter of Thomas Bartlett Hopkins. She was a sister of Rev. Elverson Hopkins who just recently passed away.

The weak kneed and spineless led by Mr. Boehner rolled over and played dead not cutting wasteful spending down in the swamps of the lower Potomac. Boehner then had the audacity to attack those who would point out how bad what he did was for the country. Apparently he is trying to keep up with Sen. McVain. They even funded Obamacare which is the cause for "fearless leader" being the maker of the "Lie of the Year". Obviously, it is time for some new blood as most of those who are there are not up to the task.

With the cold weather and snow there have been several spots where because the ditches haven't been cleaned or driveways have not been properly maintained and water has run across the highways making hazardous spots. In prior times such situations were fixed but, apparently, now such isn't seen to be a problem even though the families of those who might be killed in accidents could sue the road supervisors as individuals. Such situations were noted in at least four (4) area counties. Those who follow highway news note that it is now the thing for the smaller poor counties to turn back in to Charleston their maintenance money so that the bigger "more important" counties could have more maintenance money.

Exxon, the flagship company for the Rockefeller family, threatened the governor of Pennsylvania if that state did not adopt domestic terrorist Bill Ayers' Common Core school curriculum Exxon would pull out of the state. It was noted that Exxon gave six figure amounts to the Big Eared One who is pushing the federal program to control all education in the nation. Perhaps Exxon can obtain engineers and scientists from China and India as the program dumbs down students in addition to gathering all kinds of personal data that will go to Microsoft.

Several local residents harvested deer and one got one with his chariot. A while back two boys were coming home from high school and saw an injured buck with a nice rack along the road. One had a pocket knife and finished off the injured critter. They took the animal home and called the rabbit cops who had a conniption threatening arrest and taking the deer either for themselves or someone "with connections".

Two of the invasive black buzzards were seen in the Spencer area over the weekend. Obviously, some civic minded individual needs to "take care" of the situation.

Cabot Oil & Gas announced that they are making out like gang busters drilling in the dry gas section of the Marcellus shale in northeastern Pennsylvania. They report that the firm anticipates getting 14 billion cubic feet of gas from their wells and are working toward getting 20 billion. Also the firm has been drilling alternating wells high and then low in the Marcellus. Cabot noted that they will have a market capitalization of $15 billion almost as big as Chesapeake at $17 billion. Cabot now has 10 well pads [pads with ten wells] and it is noted that, compared to other companies their royalties are low. Cabot recently permitted a vertical Utica shale well in Wood County which is said to be in the very wet window. HG is working on a plan to acquire acreage in Lincoln County which is said to have wet Utica gas as well. HG is hoping to pick up acreage on the cheap while Cabot is doing the same in Putnam County.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude oil is $94.10 with the price of drip fetching $73.80, Marcellus & Utica light $86.54 and medium $95.10/bbl.

There will be a farm symposium at the college in Glenville in January. Those who might want to sell produce to schools need to complete the GAP [Good Agricultural practices] training and it might be that if one wants to sell products anywhere soon one would have to take the "training".
