Hazel Ruth Wallbrown Brannon, 102, 102 of Arnoldsburg, West Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at home.

Hazel was born December 12, 1910 at Beech in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late William Henry and Grace Maude Price Wallbrown.

She married Wyatt Brannon on September 7, 1929 and worked at Goodyear in Akron, Ohio during World War II. She then moved back to Calhoun County in 1944 where she was a homemaker until they returned to Akron in 1952. In Akron, she worked for the Summit County Child Welfare Services until 1970 when she retired and moved back to Calhoun County. She was a member of the Louisa Chapel United Methodist Church in Arnoldsburg.

Hazel is survived by a daughter, Myrtle Grace Carpenter of Arnoldsburg; a son, Richard Brannon of Parkersburg, West Virginia; a sister, Pearl King of Ripley, West Virginia; three grandsons, Ronald, Jerry, and Jeff Carpenter; seven great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wyatt Brannon in 1978; a daughter, Pearl Eldean Zimmerman; granddaughter, Sandra Zimmerman; two sisters, Irene Wallbrown and Eula Hall; four brothers, Dale, Harley, Carl, and Bernard Wallbrown; and a great-grandson, Damien Carpenter.

A service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer, West Virginia, with Rev. Kevin Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Hill Cemetery near Arnoldsburg. Visiting is Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
