| Betty Joan White, 73, of Glenville, West Virginia, departed this life on the evening of December 5, 2013 at the Camden Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg, WV, following an extended illness. Born March 16, 1940 in Baldwin, Gilmer County, daughter of the late Claude S. and Mae Brady White. Betty was a graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1958 and a 1976 graduate of Glenville State College. She retired from the Gilmer County Board of Education in June, 2003, after serving 29 years as treasurer. Betty enjoyed singing in the Gilmer County Senior Choir, playing piano, working with the Gilmer County Cancer Unit, and working with the Gilmer County Historical Society. She especially enjoyed spending time with all her great-great nieces and nephews. Surviving is 1 sister, Jean Robinson of Atlanta, GA; 2 brothers, Claude White Jr. and wife Sharon of Parkersburg, and Gerald L. White and wife Ruth of Glenville. Also surviving are 8 nieces, 1 nephew, and 12 great nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by 1 brother in law, Stanley Robinson and 1 infant sibling. Funeral Services will be conducted at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 112 East Main Street, Glenville, at 11:00 AM., Tuesday, December 10, 2013 with Rev. Mark James officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadow Lane Cemetery, on WV Hwy 5 west of Glenville. Visitation will be Monday December 9, 2013 from 5-8 PM., and at the Trinity United Methodist Church. Per Betty's request her casket will be closed for all public gatherings. Ellyson Mortuary Inc. is assisting the family of Betty Joan White with arrangements. |
