UPDATE: MAJOR WILDFIRE STRIKES WV'S MONONGAHELIA NATIONAL FOREST

UPDATE - Fire fighting crews are making gains battling a 1,400-acre fire in the Monongahela National Forest.

The U.S. Forest Service on Friday said the fire is 40 percent contained.

ORIGINAL STORY - A major wildfire has struck the Monongahela National Forest in Pendleton County, with the US Forest Service saying it is only 20% contained.

Thursday, about 150 people were fighting the fire from 18 states, and local fire departments were monitoring danger to structures.

So far the fire has burned between two and three square miles.
