James M. Harper, 71, of West Columbia, West Virginia formerly of Walton, West Virginia died November 2, 2013 after an extended illness. He was born September 8, 1942 in Charleston, West Virginia a son of the late Walter and Wanda Edith Paxton Harper. He was a heavy equipment operator. He is survived by one daughter, Shannon Epling of Spencer WV; two sons, Brian "Bud" Harper of Reedy WV and Jim Harper of Cool Ridge WV; four sisters, Janet Davis of Spencer, Billie Jones and June Fields, both of Charleston WV and Jane Fields of Huntington WV; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Robin Jean Harper. Service 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at the TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME, Spencer, with Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Gandeeville Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
