Wynona "Winnie" Brannon Stalnaker - Normantown

Wynona "Winnie" Brannon Stalnaker, 103, of Normantown, West Virginia, (Grass Run Community), departed this life early Saturday morning, November 2, 2013 at her home surrounded by family.

Born January 20, 1910 on Grass Run, Gilmer County, Winnie was the daughter of the late O. A. Collins and Goldye Brannon.

Winnie was a homemaker who spent most of her life caring for her family. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, tending to her flowers, gardening, and hunting.

Winnie was a member of the Hardman Fork Baptist Church where she attended faithfully until at the age of 98 her declining health prevented regular attendance. A devout Christian, Winnie gave years of her life to the Church, her family, and her community. She will be dearly missed by all.

In February, 1927, she was united in marriage to Okey Stalnaker Jr. who preceded her in death on September 2, 1983.

Surviving are two sons, Okey Lee Stalnaker and wife Margaret of Normantown and Bill Stalnaker and wife Betty of Glenville, two daughters-in-law, Audra Stalnaker of Normantown and Marito Stalnaker of Glenville, one sister, June Kyer of Round Mountain, California.

She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, Barbara Miller and husband Mike of Normantown, Judy Stalnaker of Normantown, Sandi Rankin of Mentor, OH; Sherri Stalnaker of Normantown, Ron Stalnaker and wife Gina of Bridgeport, Mike Stalnaker and wife Terri of Glenville, Pat Stalnaker of Glenville, Donna Curtin and husband George D. of Webster Springs, Steve Stalnaker and wife Helen of Parkersburg, Phil Stalnaker and wife Stacia of Pittsburg, PA; Tammy Hough and husband Gerry of Weston, Bill Stalnaker and wife Debbie of Glenville, and Susie Stalnaker-Ware and husband Joe of Glenville. There are also twenty four great-grandchildren and fifteen great-great grandchildren surviving.

Along with her parents and husband, Winnie was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald Gene Stalnaker and Richard Lloyd "Dick" Stalnaker, one granddaughter in-law, Robin Stalnaker, one great-great grandson Mason Cody Stalnaker and a host of brothers and sisters.

The family would like to extend special thanks to caregivers, Ruth Goodrich, Mayme McNemar, Roberta Smith, Tammy Statler, and Hospice Care for their wonderful care.

Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., 2 Vanhorn Dr., Glenville, WV; 26351 at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2013 with Elder Richard Westfall officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadow Lane Cemetery, Glenville, WV. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
