Roy Denzil Murphy, 77 - formerly of Gilmer County

Roy Denzil Murphy, 77, died Sunday October 19, 2013 in Waxhaw, NC with sister, Annabelle, neice Jennifer, and caregiver at his side.

Born February 26, 1936 in Gilmer County WV; son of the late William Raymond and Sylvia Marie Snyder Murphy.

Denzil was a graduate of Sand Fork High School, Class of 1955. He loved sports, especially WVU Football and NASCAR. In 1990, he was retired from Timken Co. of Canton OH, as a steel worker with 34 years and 4 months service.

Denzil is survived by 4 sisters, Edna Walton and husband Glenn of Bridgeport WV; Annabelle Kramlick of Waxhaw NC; Lois Cain and husband Richard of Catonsville MD; and Marie Slavinsky of Crosby TX. Also surviving are 4 nieces and 4 nephews.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers Kathy Clyburn and Karen Vincent.

Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV. 26351 at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2013 with Merlon Howell officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadow Lane Cemetery, Route 5 West of Glenville. Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday at the Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzhiemer's Association or Novant Health Hopsice and Palliative Care, P.O. Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233.
