Fall turkey season is currently in season in Calhoun County. The limit is one hen or gobbler in the fall. Only two bearded turkeys may be taken per year. So if a hunter killed two gobblers last spring he or she may only kill a hen in the fall.

I typically start my morning out listening for birds at daybreak. If I hear a bird, I try to make my move. If I do not hear birds I will start covering ground while occasionally calling. Kee-Kee runs simulate a lost jake or jenny trying to return to the flock.

The Calhoun County fall turkey season ends on October 19th.

Youth day for deer is October 19th. Only does may be taken during youth day. Youth must be accompanied by a licensed adult. The youth do not require a class N doe stamp. A recent change in the law allows for seniors to also hunt on youth day.

This day provides an excellent opportunity to get youngsters involved in the great outdoors. Please take a child hunting and introduce he or she to a future of hunting.
