PRETRIAL HEARING THURSDAY IN HUSK MURDER TRIAL - Twelve Felony Cases On Docket

(10/17/2013)
Thomas Lee Husk will appear in Calhoun Circuit Thursday for a pretrial hearing before Judge David W. Nibert.

Husk is charged with the 2011 murder of John Dale Cyrus.

The Husk trial is set for December 3.

In July, for a second time their was a mistrial, with efforts to seat a jury failing because the pool of potential jurors told the court they had preconceived beliefs regarding the case, had acquaintances or relationships with either Husk or the victim Cyrus, or other connections or reasons that could influence their impartial decision.

Prosecutor Shannon Jones, following the last mistrial said, "We will make one more attempt to seat a jury in Calhoun. We're hopeful that a jury can be seated." The 2011 shooting death of Cyrus resulted in what has been reported in a criminal complaint as a bitter dispute between the two men over family issues.
