UPDATE- Detectives with the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office said Sunday night that an investigation into a shooting near Charleston has revealed the man involved in the incident shot himself.

ORIGINAL STORY: MAN SHOT IN CHEST - State Police said Frank Kennedy of Charleston, a retired police officer from New York and member of the West Virginia Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, was shot in the chest over the weekend while in his front yard.

Police are looking for the shooter, a motive is yet to be determined.

Kennedy is a retired New York City police officer who responded during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

He was taken to the hospital, his condition is not known.

Kennedy was arrested by Dunbar police in August for drinking and driving, the complaint accused him of causing an accident on Interstate 64 that sent two women to the hospital.

Following that incident, police said his blood alcohol limit was three times the legal limit.

MAN STABBED IN BACK - Police in Charleston are investigating a stabbing that happened around 2:45 p.m. on Sunday.

Kanawha County 911 dispatchers say the victim was stabbed in the back and arrived at the Charleston Fire Department with the wounds.
