ARNOLDS WILL BE MOLASSES FEST 46TH PARADE MARSHALS

(09/28/2013)

Marvin and Millie Beckett Arnold of Arnoldsburg will serve as Parade Marshals for the 46th WV Molasses Festival this Saturday in Arnoldsburg.

The Arnolds have been married 48 years, their son Phil lives at Arnoldsburg, and son Steve died in 1992.

Marvin has been a pipeliner for 51 years, the past 25 years working for Houchin Construction.

Millie is a retired para-professional, having worked at Arnoldsburg Elementary for 39 years.

Marvin is the son of Glen and Vesta Starcher Arnold, and Millie is the daughter of Otis and Thelma Payne Beckett of Clay.

"We were shocked and at the same time honored to be parade marshals," said Millie.

"We've always loved our community and the stalwart people who have lived here," said Marvin, "It's been hard seeing the old-timers pass away who dedicated a lot of time to the festival."

The Molasses Festival Parade is Saturday at 1 p.m.
