EXPERIENCING THE OUTDOORS - Get Additional Bow Stamps While You Still Can

(09/20/2013)

Additional archery stamps must be purchased before the start of archery season on September 28, 2013. It is the policy of the West Virginia DNR to only allow additional bow, gun, or muzzleloader stamps to be purchased before the opening of season.

Many states allow the purchase of additional stamps during season. However, our state attempts to maximize sales by dictating they be bought before season. While I am an advocate of our DNR and believe they do a great job, this policy upsets me. My personal opinion is to allow additional tags to be purchased during season, even if at an additional price. I would be willing to pay $30 in season for a stamp that cost $21 before season. I just hate being forced into buying stamps at a certain time, with no certainty of a later need for the stamp.

The cost of additional bow or gun stamps is $21. An additional deer muzzleloader is $16. If you want an additional bow stamp, it must be before September 28th. If you want an additional buck stamp for rifle season, it must be before November 25th. If you want an additional muzzleloader stamp, it must be before December 9th.

Residents of Calhoun County can buy two additional deer stamps for archery, one additional buck stamp for gun, and one for muzzleloader. One of the additional archery tags must be used on a doe.
