LOCAL SCOUTS HELP WITH AMERICAN FLAG RETIREMENT CEREMONY

Calhoun VFW Post 5959 held an American Flag Retirement Ceremony during Calhoun Days at the Calhoun County Park last weekend.

With the help of the Calhoun Days Committee, Girl Scout troop 1055 and leader Rebecca Patton, Cub Scout pack 436 and Paul Funk leader, and Boy Scout troop 39 and leader Larry Tanner, eighty four used or worn flags were retired by burning.

The ashes of the retired flags was then buried near the American Flag pole in the park.

VFW members present were Keith Tanner, Art Bell, Kevin Pauley and Jim Sturms, Chairman.
