TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST CHURCH RETIRES FROM GSC |

Bill Church (left) receives a commemorative mirror GLENVILLE, WV - Bill Church has retired from Glenville State College where he worked for 24 years. "I have enjoyed my time at GSC. Since beginning in 1989, technology was always changing which provided a constant learning experience and kept my job interesting," said Church. When Church first came to GSC, he was a PC Specialist before becoming a Local Area Network (LAN) Specialist. In appreciation for Church's years of dedication, he received a lifelong pass to GSC sporting events and a commemorative mirror from GSC President Dr. Peter Barr. "Bill was an innovative learner and implementer. Over the last 24 years, technology changed dramatically, and Bill kept up with the transitions keeping Glenville State College on the cutting edge of technology," said GSC Information Systems Manager Jason Phares. During his retirement, which became effective on June 30, 2013, Church is devoting more time to promoting his latest book Medicinal Plants, Trees, and Shrubs of Appalachia and also plans to write a new book. In addition, he will be teaching local classes on medicinal plants. "I am looking forward to enjoying life and not getting up at 5:30 a.m. every morning," said Church. Church is a native of Craigsville in Nicholas County, West Virginia and graduated from GSC in 1989 with a degree in Computer Science. He currently resides at Normantown in Gilmer County, West Virginia with his wife Tena.
