A Calhoun man who was in magistrate court for revocation of home confinement, fled the Grantsville office on foot about 4 p.m. Tuesday to avoiding being taken to Central Regional Jail, is now in custody and incarcerated.

Calhoun Sheriff Carl Ballengee, Chief Deputy J. D. Smith and Cpl. J. B. Hunt began searching for Joseph Paul Kute, 30, after he fled.

Officers said during the search, Kute crossed the Little Kanawha River at least twice, once near the former B. F. Goodrich plant, running into the woods.

Kute had been charged with stalking and reckless driving.
