FREE ADVANCE DIRECTIVES SEMINAR AT CCCOA 10 AM FRIDAY - Helping Family Members That Can't Help Themselves

(08/30/2013)
If you or a loved one becomes unable to make important health care decisions what happens? Who will make these decisions?

A free Advanced Directives seminar will be held Friday, August 30 at 10 a.m. at The Grantsville Senior Center to help answer these and other questions and to make decisions.

Please call the CCCOA at 304-354-7822 to let them know if you plan to attend the seminar.

Advanced Directives are forms that state what you want or do not want if you become incapacitated. Do you want CPR, a feeding tube? Do you want to be put on a respirator? Is there a certain person that you want to make these decisions on your behalf? You can make these choices now, while you are able.

This seminar will be presented by Bonnie Brown, R.N. Bonnie has worked in hospital and nursing homes, helping patients and families deal with these difficult decisions.

If you are a family caregiver, discussing advance Directives with your loved one and getting their wishes on paper will take some of the burden off of you. Having your own Advanced Directives is a good idea too. We all know this is something we should do, but we put if off.

This seminar is open to anyone who wishes to learn more about advanced directives, especially those who are caregivers. If you foresee yourself providing care to a parent, spouse or any loved one in the future this information will be helpful.
