Iva Ada Hoskins, 84, of Arnoldsburg

Iva Ada Hoskins, 84, of Arnoldsburg, loving mother, wife, grandmother, and friend to all went to be with the Lord August 20, 2013 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

She was born April 13, 1929 in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Vada (Hall) McKown and James Lee McKown.

She was preceded in death by her husband Vere "Buster" Hoskins, one son Stanley Hoskins, grandson Terry Hoskins, son-in-law Gene Wagoner and brothers Lee Junior McKown, Eugene McKown and Brice McKown.

She is survived by three sons:  Larry Hoskins of Ripley, Bradley (Connie) Hoskins, and Jeffery (Glenna) Hoskins both of Arnoldsburg. Five daughters: Sharon (Greg) Monday of Kenna, Nancy O'Brien of St. Albans, Alice "Jeanne" Wagoner of Sand Ridge, Cindy (Burl) Cottrell of Arnoldsburg and Missie Hoskins of Spencer and one very special daughter-in-law Liz Hoskins of Evans.

 Grandchildren: Tony O'Brien, Patty Hamilton, Kevin (Cheryl) Booher, Chris (Anna) Hoskins, Tonya O'Brien, Teresa (Ryan) Varney, Jamie (Kelly) Wagoner, Amy Cottrell, Brian (Lori) Wagoner, Eric (Tosh) Hoskins, Darren (Jennifer) Hoskins, Ashli Cottrell, Stacy (Daniel) Marks, and Jeffrey Hoskins and 15 Great Grandchildren.

Two brothers, Glenn McKown of Harmony and Bill McKown of Peniel. Four sisters: Carol Sue Romine of Spencer, Bonnie Hockman of Tennessee, Phyllis (Gary) Spurlock of Harmony and Barbara (Kenny) Miller of Liberty, WV.

Iva was an employee of BF Goodrich and Kellwood Company.

What Iva enjoyed most of all was spending time with her family, helping others, quilting, canning, cooking, laughing and telling stories. She never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone she met feel like family. She will be greatly missed and loved forever and ever. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Roane General Skilled Nursing Facility for the wonderful and compassionate care that was given to her during her illness.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association 1601 2nd Ave. Charleston, WV 25387.

Iva's lifelong wish was to be cremated.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 1, 2013, 2:00pm, at the Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg. Visitation will be from 1:00p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
