STAND-OFF IN CHARLESTON - Charleston Police say Attorney Mark Bramble started firing a gun from inside his home about 9:30 a.m. Monday and when officers arrived on , Chief Brent Webster says Bramble started shooting at police, using multiple weapons. >{? Police officers returned fire.

Bramble's wife told police Bramble was having hallucinations and told her people were chasing him, acCording to police.

Charleston police said Bramble suffered a head injury that appears to be self inflicted, and was in surgery at CAMC.

Police sent a robot inside the house, discovering Bramble lying on the floor.

Bramble has been an employee of the Attorney General's Office. Last Thursday he turned in his resignation effective Aug. 30.

The standoff lasted nearly three hours before Bramble was taken into police custody.

CHARLESTON POLICE RAID SANDWICH SHOP - Charleston police raided a West Side sandwich shop early Sunday morning, finding guns, drugs and alcohol in what they described as an illegal after hours bar.

It was the second such incident in five weeks at Miss Sylvia's Sandwich Shop, where there was an earlier shooting incident.

About 20 officers including Charleston's SWAT Team made the 5 a.m. raid, with about 50 people in the establishment, discovering a large amount of liquor, several hand guns and scattered amounts of marijuana, police said.

Four people were arrested.

"Guns were ditched as we entered," police said. "We suspect the guns may be stolen and we're investigating this as a continuing criminal enterprise."

The owners of Miss Sylvia's, Rodney Armstrong, 43, and Emma Laughlin, 36, are charged with manufacture or sale of alcohol without a state license, a misdemeanor.>{? Armstrong and Laughlin were arrested and charged with the same offense on July 7, after a Michigan man was shot outside of Sylvias.

BURGLAR HELD AT GUNPOINT - Fayetteville homeowners held a woman at gunpoint after she broke into their home, according to police.

Lisa Beth Blankenship, 36, of Oceana, was charged with daytime burglary, according to Fayette Sheriff Steve Kessler.

Blankenship broke into a home near Oak Hill, according to the release, and was caught by the home owners.

Blankenship allegedly tried to run out the backdoor, but the man and two others held her at gunpoint until police arrived. Kessler said the break-in was drug-related.
