WIRT TEACHER-COACH CHARGED OVER RELATIONSHIP WITH STUDENT

A former Wirt County teacher-coach has been charged with having an inappropriate relationship with a student

Lijiah Heiney, 36, was charged with six counts of sexual abuse by a person of trust in Wirt Magistrate Court.

Heiney is accused of having sexual relations with a 16-year old female student at Wirt County High School.

Each offense carries a 10-20 year prison sentence and fine of $500 to $5,000.

Bond was set at $60,000.

Heiney resigned his teaching position at the school July 23.

The arrest warrant was issued for Heiney based on an investigation by the Wirt County Sheriff's Office.

Heiney is represented by attorney Berkeley Simmons.
