Calhoun's Appalachian music icon Lester McCumbers of Nicut, will present a masters workshop at the 24th annual Appalachian String Band Music Festival on July 31-August 04 at Camp Washington-Carver in Clifftop, Fayette County.

McCumbers, a master fiddler who was born in 1921, has performed widely for more than 60 years with old-time and bluegrass music groups, appearing at concerts, contests, festivals and square dances, and on radio shows throughout West Virginia and elsewhere.

He was a 2005 recipient of the Vandalia Award.

Clifftop is five day mountaintop gathering of musicians and friends with contests, concerts, workshops, square dances, camping and a hymn-sing.

West Virginia masters are presented to an audience of more than 3000 musicians and string band music lovers from around the world.

Over the history of this festival, more than 20 foreign countries and 48 of the 50 states have been represented, with many returning year after year to this this much-loved festival.
