Calhoun opens the season on Aug. 30 at home against Gilmer County.

Fitzwater says athletes interested in playing football need to have a 2.0 GPA, completing a sports physical.

Athletes need to bring practice clothes and gear, including T-shirt, shorts, socks, tennis shoes, cleats, change of clothes, towel, and washcloth.

The Calhoun Red Devil football season will garner some extra interest with the return of arch rival Roane County (Spencer) being back on the schedule.

The big difference for players and fans is travel. This year just about all the away games are long trips, Roane being the closet.
