The Creston auctions will resume Saturday, August 3, starting at 6 P. M. at the Creston Community Building. Come & have an evening of fun and pick up some great bargains.

The Wirt County Fair starts Wednesday August 7 and runs through August 10. The livestock sale is Friday evening and the mud bog starts at 1 P. M. on Saturday.

There were 263 riders Saturday at the Creston ATV poker run. Brian Woodyard was first followed by Kerry Knapp & Joe Lowers. Lisa Bennett (Aaron's daughter) won the 50/50. Folks came from far & near for the event and almost all agreed that it was the best ride the Creston Community Building ever had. Special thanks for that go to Chancy Shaw who laid out most of the route. After going up Little Creek the riders went over Mount Beulah to Little Rowell and then crossed Big Rowell to the Connolly Hill to Richardsonville, then up Husk Ridge to the suburbs of Hur, then down Buck Horn to Barnes Run. After crossing the old iron bridge the riders went out E-gypt Ridge to Triplett Run, up Plum Run to Mulberry, then Craig Ridge and two forks of Lower Barnes Run to Peter Cave and then to Coal Run, Fairview Ridge, Buck Run, the Beaver Dam playground, fording Spring Creek and up Beaver Dam and then down Rock Camp back to Creston. The community would like to thank all those who came, those who worked, the merchants & others who donated items, those who baked & fixed the goodies.

Gay Park reported that she now sees much better after undergoing eye surgery on Wednesday by Dr. Strickler. Nancy Engelke also underwent a remedial eye procedure the same day with Dr. Strickler.

Pauline Brumfield obtained a good report on her nose surgery.

A group of youth from the Lake Norman Baptist Church in Huntersville, North Carolina under the direction of Marty Helton spent two days doing work on the residence of Jim & Carol Lynch. Carol is to come home July 30 after undergoing extensive rehab. The group was comprised of 15 boys & young men mostly between the ages of 13 & 17 who had no prior home repair work who were camping at the facility on Standing Stone. Among other things they put up siding and built a ramp.

Jerry Campbell underwent surgery which was said to be going well.

Jessica Jett may have surgery to remove a thyroid tumor.

The Creston correspondent was required to consult with a realignment expert.

Ted Grimm was calling on Charles Russell. Later Charles visited with Ray Gumm, Parris Parsons & brother Euell at Miletree nursing home.

John Kiger & associates were attending to business in Creston and having fun on the poker run.

Broadway Joe, the former governor who now is playing U. S. Senator to become a cabinet member or some other big player In the big puddle had a $1,000/plate fund raiser at the opulent mansion of the New York City mayor "Doomburg" who wants to ban guns, salt and large drinks. He also doesn't believe in escalators, he wants everyone to walk the stairs. Apparently such is what errand boys for the Big Eared One do if they want to be considered "important".

The Wirt road crew put down several tons of hotmix on Route 5 below Creston making a big improvement.

The rainy weather continues much to the delight of the amphibians. Bullfrogs were singing on Friday in puddles that are usually dry. It was noted that it has been a great year for ascomycetes, basidiomycetes, lichens & moss.

Big Sis, the Homeland Security boss, set up "Operation Vigilant Eagle" to monitor returning U. S. soldiers as the Big Eared One & his handlers consider former military, like those who believe abortion is murder, that God gave the Promised Land to Abraham & his family, that the Bible is real and that the Constitution has real meaning in today's world and that it should be complied with. Such by some are considered to be "enemies of the state".

Jimmy Cunningham & associates put up a nice block wall for H. Wayne Nida in front of his home.

A prominent elected official locally has now licensed at least part of their company trucks in Ohio to avoid tax.

The power company's big pole saw has been working up Little Creek. The big helicopter trimming saws have also been used locally.

Mae Tuttle, age 80, of Joker passed away. She was best known locally as the mother of the "Turtle Twins".

The Federal Government is now calculating the racial percentages of all the zip codes in the nation to make sure that they all, especially the ones with high average income have the proper percentage of various races. Those that do not will be forced to take in folks to equalize the numbers.

The jokes continue about the "hot dog" candidate for Gotham's mayor. The light also shone on the "little wife" who was/is Madame Hillary's right hand girl. Miss Huma's family is active in the Muslim Brotherhood and other terrorist organizations and the little wife even works for their magazine.

Local businesses have received telephone calls from the Obamacare folks. One husband/wife business that has no employees was told, "You must buy health insurance, now!" It was learned that the folks doing the phone calls and promotions hired part time employees so that they will not have to provide health insurance coverage.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude fell 79 cents to $103.70 with drip fetching $85.74, Marcellus & Utica light $97.78 and medium $105.20/bbl.

Freddie Bush was hauling hay on Saturday.
