BAND DIRECTOR BEALL SAYS THANKS - Band Boosters And Parents Appreciated

(08/26/2002)
I would like to personally thank the Band Boosters for their hard work in supporting the marching band. In addition to the usual support they give to the band, they have spent countless hours preparing the concession stand at the new field for the upcoming season, making it possible for the band, athletics and FFA to raise money.

Band Booster meetings are now on the 1st Wednesday of every month at 5:30 pm in the Band Room. The community is encouraged to attend. Martha Haymaker has been elected President, Bob Bonar Vice President. Linda Shock Secretary, Jerry Fox Treasurer, Trina Beall Reporter.

I would also like to thank the band parents and the community for responding to our call to help out in the concession stand during the football season. We still need a few people to help with set from 4 - 6:30 pm.

I was delighted to have Patty Haught return as our Majorette Coach and was extremely lucky to be able to add Casey Harris as our new Dance Team Coach. Their joint creative talents has added a new and exciting element to the half time show.

Hayes Haymaker and Bobby Swisher have volunteered to drive the equipment bus for the band to the away games and competitions. For this I am eternally grateful.

On the subject of buses, I would like to clarify the policy for those who may want to ride the band bus to the away games and competitions. Our band has grown is size, leaving just a few seats available for parents, former students and community members. Anyone other than current members of the marching band and band staff will be required to be approved volunteers. This means a volunteer form must be turned in and a tine test and school board approval obtained. If you are planning to ride the bus, please let us know ahead of time to insure there will be an available seat.

We are looking forward to a great season and want to thanks parents and community for their support. There is a saying. "It takes a village to raise a child". I say, "It takes a community to raise a band". Together we have done a fine job raising this one. Thanks for taking such good care of our kids.

Harry Beall, Band Director
