FLASH FLOOD STRIKES REMOTE GREEN CREEK IN ROANE COUNTY

(07/13/2013)
A flash flood struck a southern Roane County community Friday night, destroying property, washing away vehicles and wiping out roads.

No one was injured.

The remote area of Green Creek, which runs into Kanawha County near Kettle, received 4-6 inches of rain in a short period of time, while other nearby hollows were also flooded.

The access to Green Creek is at the end of Ambler Ridge, off US 119 near Walton.

One man's truck was swept downstream for a mile.

It was the third time flooding has struck Roane County within a month.
