Franklin D. Looney, 78 - Spencer

Franklin D. Looney, 78, of Spencer, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013, in the Miletree Center, Spencer.

He was born March 7, 1935 in Smithfield District, Roane County, a son of the late Orland Daniel and Pauline Gertrude Boggs Looney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Marvin Looney; two sisters, Betty Jo Donalson and Billie June Starcher.

Franklin was a retired carpenter and the former owner/operator of Frank's Ashland Service Station, Main Street, Spencer. He was an Air Force veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Arlea Looney of Spencer; children, Tambra Denise Laurenta of New Jersey, Brett Alan Looney of South Point, OH and Tonya L. Martin of Spencer; six grandchildren, Zofia Groppi, Mario Groppi, Garrett and Paige Looney, Emma and Nate Martin; two brothers, Gene Allen Looney of Cross Lanes and Danny Lee Looney of Idaho; two sisters, Alice Carol Calebs of Kentucky and Mary Ellen Hall of Parkersburg.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 5 in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Jack Roberts officiating. Burial, with military honors accorded by the USAF Honor Guard, will be in the Epling Chapel Cemetery, Looneyville. Friends may call one hour before the funeral.
