James Boggs, 77, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Funeral Service for James will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, with Pastor David Davies officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, at Ottawa Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at church. There will be a Masonic Service at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery.

James was born July 19, 1935, in Roane County, West Virginia, to Thomas Russell Boggs and Della Francis Parsons. He married Cissy McKenney on September 14, 2002, in Sheridan, Illinois.

He retired from GE Plastics after 30 years of service. He was a member of Sheridan United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge in Wirt County, West Virginia, the Scottish Rite, and was a Shriner.

He is survived by his wife, Cissy; his daughters, Linda (James) Baker of Rockford, Sheila (Duane) Kiesewetter of Saunemin, and Crystal (Matthew) Heaton of Normal; a step-son, Nick (Donna) Roggy of DePue; five grandchildren, Christopher Stohl, Nicholas Amidon, Sara Amidon, Brittany Miles, and Bekkah Roggy; his siblings, Anna Exline, Jack (Connie) Boggs, Margaret (Larry) Webster, and Charles (Gladys) Boggs, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Shawn Stohl; two brothers, Thomas Boggs and June Boggs; and one sister, Mary Campbell.

Pallbearers will be Duane Kiesewetter, Nicholas Amidon, Sara Amidon, Nick Roggy, Wayne Gibbs, and Matt Heaton.

Memorials may be directed to the Mazon Animal Shelter or First United Methodist Church in Ottawa.
