Dorothy Eleanor Atkinson, 89 - Peniel

Dorothy Eleanor Atkinson, 89, of Peniel, West Virginia died June 25, 2013 at Charleston Area Medical Center's Memorial Division after a brief illness.

She was born October 30, 1923 in Beaver County, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late Orva and Nell Golden Conley. She was a homemaker and a member of the Peniel Community Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting and her flower gardens.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Martin Atkinson, Jr.; a daughter, Gretchen Wood and her husband, Paul of Heber Springs, Arkansas; a son, Martin "Rick" Atkinson III and his wife, Jeanette of Peniel; a sister, Mary Boyles of Spencer, West Virginia; a brother, Robert Conley of Charleston, West Virginia; five grandchildren, Jody Putnam, Jeff Wood, Martin Atkinson IV, Ryan Atkinson and Jesse Wolfe; and three great-grandchildren, Christopher and Benjamin Wood, and Lenox Wolfe.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katie Wolfe and a great-grandson, Patrick Wood.

Service will be 11:00 am Friday June 28, 2013 at the TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME, Spencer, with Revs. Tim Couch and Larry Greathouse officiating. Burial will be in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer. Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
