CALHOUN SKY BEST LOCATION FOR 'SUPER MOON'

(06/24/2013)

Moon photo taken in 2010 at Annamoriah by Christina Miller

Seeing the Super Moon in Calhoun County, West Virginia's undistorted dark sky made it an extra-clear observation.

The moon was at its biggest and brightest of the year, coming 29,000 miles closer to earth, making it 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter.

Calhoun County, according to astronomers, is one of the best places in the USA to observe the universal sky, having less artificial luminescence at night, ofter drawing star-gazers from around the country.
