MAN SHOOTS AT OFFICERS - A Raleigh County man was shot and killed Friday morning after allegedly shooting at a Raleigh sheriff's deputy. The Raleigh County Sheriff's Department says deputies were making a routine home confinement check on Charles Warren Wickline in Jonben. They say Wickline pulled a gun on the officers and then took off on an ATV. When Sheriff's deputies arrived, they found Wickline hiding behind a tree, saying they tried to get him to surrender but he fired one shot at them. A deputy then returned fire and Wickline was killed. Wickline was on home confinement as a condition of his bond in a child neglect case resulting in death. He was charged after backing over a 13-month-old child with a vehicle last July.
