WHITE PINE HAD DEVASTATING FLOODS IN 1930-1940S

(12/13/2010)
White Pine suffered through some devastating floods in the last century.

Rose Grim Campbell, a native of White Pine and now a resident of Charleston, recalls at least three of the floods that swept much of the White Pine community away.

Rose is the daughter of the Noel and Mary Dollie Simers Grim of the community.

The first major flood happened 77 years ago on June 21, 1937. The second was just a year later to the day, Campbell recalls.

"Our house washed away in 1937," Campbell said. The third and most-remembered flood was in August, 1943.
