"SAVE THE CHILDREN" PROGRAM COMING TO ARNOLDSBURG SCHOOL

An internationally recognized program, Save-the-Children is coming to Arnoldsburg Elementary School, a program that is in about a half dozen West Virginia counties, including Clay and Roane.

Anna Hardway will be discussed the Save the Children USA Grant Award for Arnoldsburg Elementary at Monday's meeting of the Calhoun Board of Education.

One of the core pieces to the program is "Early Steps to School Success," to assist children from birth to age 5, with language, social and emotional development.

The Save the Children literacy program provides children in elementary school with the opportunity to increase their reading achievement by supplying the tools they need to develop reading skills and the guidance and support they need to grow as readers.

The program has a number of components regarding child development, with the outcomes carefully monitored.
