CAREER CENTER MAKES HISTORY - First Certified Phlebotomy Technician Student

The Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center was recently approved to offer an additional credential of Certified Phlebotomy Technician in the Health Occupations Class. Jamie Frederick was the first student at CGCC accepted into this pathway.

She successfully completed this certification through the National HealthCareer Association. In addition to the classroom criteria, she successfully passed a rigorous online assessment to receive her certification.

The Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center Health Occupations program will accept enrollment for the 2013/2014 school year in the Phlebotomy pathway/certification.

The following criteria must be met for selection:

-1st year completer at CGCC with certificate

-Work Keys minimum scores for Health Occupations Concentration

-Passed EducateWV (previously called Global 21) hands-on assessment

-Motivated, can work independently

-Must be 18 years or older by January 1, 2014

-Letter of Interest to Instructor or Director

-Instructor Recommendation
