Lawrence "Larry" Stemple, 79 - Parkersburg

Lawrence "Larry" Stemple, 79, of Parkersburg, died May 24, 2013, at his home.

He was born Feb. 25, 1934, in Grantsville, W.Va., to the late Bernard and Lenore Morris Stemple.

Larry attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church where he was an usher, Eucharistic Minister, served on the parish council and was a pastoral counselor. He retired from the Bureau of Public Debt. Larry served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of American Legion Post 15, the Elks Lodge and the Knights of Columbus, where he was a 4th Degree Knight.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Norma (Borrelli) Stemple; one sister, Diana Helmick (Charles); two brothers, Morris (Mary Ellen) and Mike Stemple; one sister-in-law, Joan Stewart; nieces and nephews, Jeanie Feather, Jennie McAtee, Charles Helmick, Steve C. Helmick, Tina Wake (Ernest), Lisa Borrelli, Anne Spletzer (Mark), Kay Frosolone (Pete), Amy Schaus (Sammy), Emily Self (Jason), Angela Borrelli, Teri Pacion (John), Tim Stemple (Cindy), Tracy Casey (Martin), Tricia Dennison (Greg) and Tammy Brenner (Gary); several great-nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, Susie Miller.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Housecalls Hospice and Comfort Keepers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one nephew, Charles Borrelli.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Neil Buchlein officiating and the Rev. Father Robert Park co-officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Monday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg.
