"Actually there are two or more water leaks, all of which are currently shut off" at the new Calhoun Middle/High School campus, according to school administrator Donnie Pitts. He said the leaks began to appear last August and have continued to worsen. One leak was discovered in a line going to the new facilities building and bus garage.

"We closed that valve to discover other leaks," said Pitts. The big increase in water usage occurred in December when the average bill increased from $800-$900 to $3250. The current leak is in the domestic line going to the sewage treatment plant, which has been shut off.

Pitts said the leak is expected to be repaired this week provided it can be located easily and is not under the parking lot. Another leak on a side line is not critical, but will be repaired soon.
