Annabelle Phillips McClain, 78 - Spencer

Annabelle Phillips McClain, 78, of Spencer, West Virginia, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2013 at home.

She was born July 28, 1934 in Roane County, a daughter of the late William Phillips and Gelah Roberts Phillips. She formerly worked at Kellwood Company, was a homemaker and she and her late husband were foster parents of 128 children.

She is survived by two daughters, Anita Weems of Oakdale, Tennessee and Brenda Queen of Crossnore, North Carolina; two sons, Teddy McClain of Clay County and Adam McClain of Spencer, two sisters, Patty Ice and Carolyn Nichols, both of Spencer; two brothers, Bobby Phillips of Reedy, West Virginia and Gary Phillips of Evans, West Virginia; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 128 foster children; and numerous foster grand and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" McClain; a son, Eddie Blankenship; a daughter-in-law, Debbie McClain; and a brother, Jackie B. Phillips.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the Swank Cemetery on Speed Road near Spencer with Rev. Jackie Roberts officiating. There will be no visitation or viewing.

Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer is in charge of the arrangements.
