ROANE COUPLE ARRESTED FOR CHILD ABUSE WITH INJURY - Child Falls 15 Feet From Window

(05/07/2013)
Roane County authorities arrested a Barcutt Rd. couple Sunday on child abuse charges, following the 15-foot fall of their 3-year-old daughter at their residence last Thursday.

Lucas Taylor, 26, and Jamie Taylor, 26, both of Spencer, were both charged with child abuse-neglect resulting in serious bodily injury and are in Central Regional Jail on $50,000 bond.

Authorities discovered the toddler on the ground screaming and crying. Taylor's told police they did not need an ambulance and would take the child to a local hospital, according to Sgt. M.W. Williams.

Jamie Taylor took Sgt. Williams inside the home and showed him where the toddler had fallen from the window, according to the report.

The criminal complaint said the officer saw dirty fingerprints on the white window sill that left him to believe that the child had tried to hang on before falling 15 feet into the yard.

Police said other children also were at the home at the time of the incident.

The child was taken by ambulance to the hospital, reportedly with non-life threatening injuries.
