IVY VON YOAK 90TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION SATURDAY

(05/11/2013)

Ivy Von Yoak and wife Freda celebrating 70th anniversary

Two amazing things happened in Calhoun County, West Virginia, on May 10, 1923.

The first thing is that it snowed over two inches.

The second thing is that Ivy Von Yoak was born, the eighth of nine children born to Ira and Fannie Morris Yoak. On May 10, 2013, Von will celebrate his 90th birthday.

Yoak has sung at thousands of funerals, and is proud of his long-time business activity, the Grantsville Appliance, and his work on many civic activities. On Saturday his family will host an open house for Von at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Von and Freda, his wife of almost 71 years, have two daughters, four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Their younger daughter Sharon and her husband Dan Turner live in Martinsburg, WV. Their daughter Jodi Lynn and her husband Paul Hume live in Baltimore, MD, with their two children, Turner Von and Kaja Grace. Their daughter Britney Von and her husband Scott Rosenberger live in Fairmont, WV, with their two children, Isaac Daniel and Ayla Von.

Their older daughter Karen and her husband Bill Lewis live in Winston-Salem, NC. Their son Matthew Edwin and his wife Madlon live in Atlanta, GA, with their two children, Thomas Kirk and Madlon Hawley. Their son Jonathan William and his wife Whitney live in Fort Worth, TX, with their two children, Savannah Rain and Lydia Caroline.

The community is welcome to the celebration, asking that no presents should be given.
