Janice I. Martin, 83 - Glenville

Janice I. Martin age 83, of Glenville, West Virginia, departed this life at 8:55 a.m., April 30, 2013 in the St. Mary's Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia follow an extended illness.

Born October 30, 1929 in Gilmer County, West Virginia, daughter of the late Albert and Eva Spencer Maxwell.

Janice was a graduate of Tanner High School, class of 1949, graduate of Glenville State College in 1961 with degrees in Home Economics and English. She taught school at Lewis County High School, Tunnelton High School in Preston County, Byesville High School in Byesville, Ohio, and her last job was Food Service Supervisor for the Calhoun County Board of Education.

She loved sewing, knitting, crocheting, and especially quilting. She also attended the Church of God of Prophecy in Sand Fork, West Virginia.

On May 24, 1969 she was united in Marriage to L. Clifford Martin who preceded her in death on October 22, 1977.

Surviving are 1 son, Jerry Maxwell and wife Barbara of Cross Lanes, West Virginia; 1 grandchild, Kayla Bailey and husband Cameron of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; 3 brothers, Albert W. Maxwell and Willis J. "Jack" Maxwell both of Glenville WV, and Frederick L. Maxwell of Mentor, Ohio; and 2 sisters, Louella Stalnaker and Mary Ann Radabaugh both of Glenville WV.

Along with her parents and husband, Janice was preceded in death by 2 sisters-in-law, Donna and Betty Maxwell; 1 brother-in-law, Lyonel Stalnaker; 1 niece, Karen Phillips; and 1 great-nephew, Tyler Maxwell.

Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV 26351, at 1:00 p.m., Saturday May 4, 2013 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Job's Temple Cemetery, Route 5 West of Glenville. Friends may call Saturday from 11:00-1:00, the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Job's Temple, C/O Louella Stalnaker, 9 Lorentz Drive, Glenville WV. 26351.
