WV KNIFE AND GUN CLUB - Mason Man Fires On Police During Shooting Drill

(04/27/2013)
A Mason County man fired a barrage of bullets at officers from the Pt. Pleasant Police Department and others who were training at a shooting range near Pt. Pleasant.

Nine officers said their lives were on the line when they became the targets during a planned event for police qualification.

The officers called 911 saying they were "pinned down."

Richard Allen Thomas, 58 (left) is facing nearly 100 felony charges over the incident. He is in Western Regional Jail with bail set at $500,000.

Thomas could be facing 90 to 450 years in prison after police said he took aim at them.

Police found the source of the gunfire, with Thomas saying he thought there were kids shooting at the range, and he wanted them to know he had a gun.
