Bernard Wyatt celebrates 90th with family
and friends, and wife Patty Roberts Wyatt

Triplett, Roane County resident Bernard Leon Wyatt celebrated his 90th birthday with family and friends at Reedy on April 20th.

He was born in 1923 to Hilden and Nina Wyatt near Richardson, attending Spencer High School and then enlisted in the Army to serve during World War ll in Patton's Third Army.

Bernard was in the 285th Combat Engineering Unit that freed a concentration camp and them parachuted into Bastogne during the The Battle of the Bulge.

He returned home from World War II in 1946, but was recalled as a reservist in 1950-1951 to serve in Korea.

In 1947 he married Mary Goff, daughter of Hubert and Luzana Goff. They had two children, Susan Lynn and Roger Dale. After 49 years of marriage, Mary suffered a stroke and passed away in 1996.

Bernard worked in the oil fields when he returned from service, worked for Department of Highways, owned and operated Wyatt Towing Service in Spencer.

In 1983 he fell from an oil tower that caused injury to his back and ribs, rendering him unable to work, After many bed-ridden months, he eventually was able to regain the ability to walk again.

He fills his time going to flea markets and to auctions.

In 2005, he met a lady he had known in 1946 for a short time, Patty Roberts of Calhoun and they were married in 2006.
