ROANE GRANDFATHER CHARGED WITH PHYSICALLY ABUSING GRANDCHILD - Gilmer, Roane Men Charged With Meth Labs

(04/22/2013)
Authorities arrested a Roane County grandfather Saturday for child abuse, after school officials said a small child had been beaten.

Charged is Stanley Russel Vanduzer, 52, (left) after the school said they noticed severe bruising on the 9-year-old and called Child Protective Services.

Sgt. Bo Williams said, "It's probably the worst I've seen in almost seven years."

According to the Roane County Sheriff's Department, the child was living with Vanduzer because the child's mother has a drug record and now lives out-of-state, according to the Roane Co. Sheriffs Department.

Vanduzer also has a drug record in several states, authorities said.

The child was immediately taken and remains in Child Protective Services custody.

Vanduzer is in Central Regional Jail on $50,000 bond.
