GUARD STABBED - A Preston County prison guard was stabbed by an inmate at the US Hazelton facility Saturday evening, the inmate using a home-made ice pick.

Authorities said the inmate is serving time for robbery charges, but also faces murder charges in another incident.

The guard is expected to survive the attack.

CASHIER INJURED - The cashier of a Rich Oil convenience store in Elkins was injured from shots fired at the business late Friday night.

Shots fired from the lot shattered the store window, and it was not determined if the employee was injured from the flying glass or fragments of bullets.

It was also unclear if the incident was related to a robbery attempt gone awry.

The cashier was transferred to Ruby Memorial in Morgantown.

MAN STABBED TRYING TO HELP - A Belle man was stabbed during an argument.

The Kanawha County Sheriff's Department said a man and a woman got into an argument at a party. When another man tried to intervene, he was then stabbed.
