WASHINGTON STATE CHEMIST WAIVES PRE-LIM HEARING IN ROANE MURDER CASE

(03/30/2013)
A Washington state chemist, Chad Renzelman, 32, waived his preliminary hearing in a Roane County Court Friday, after having been charged with first degree murder and delivery of a controlled substance in the death of Renee Honaker, a Roane woman.

Renzelman was a chemist at a nuclear power plant in Washington state before he he was extradited to Roane County for murder.

Authorities say it is the first LSD death ever recorded in the Mountain State.

Police say Renzelman sent eight 'hits' of LSD, or acid, to Todd Honaker last month, the complaint indicating they were former acquaintances.

Honaker and his wife, Renee Honaker, took the drugs on March 1.

Renee Honaker, according to the complaint, went into violent convulsions after taking two hits of acid and died within hours.

Prosecutors say both men could spend the rest of their lives in prison. Under the law, each man is equally responsible for her death.

Charges have already been filed against Todd Honaker.
