Lewis Franklin Holpp, 88 - Parkersburg

Lewis Franklin Holpp, 88, of Parkersburg, W.Va., died quietly at home on March 27, 2013, after a short illness.

He was born June 20, 1924, in Big Springs, Calhoun County, a son to the late Frank and Etta Holpp.

He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1946. After his return he married Orless Louise Hupp in Vienna, and was employed at Corning Glass for 37 years until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Edgelawn United Methodist Church for 35 years. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, hunting, fishing, and gardening.

He is survived by his loving wife Orless; three children, Rick Holpp (Toni), Joette Clevenger (Phil) and Durwin Holpp (Paula), all of Parkersburg; eight grandchildren, Christy Alexander (Mike), Adam Clevenger, Molly Thompson, Dustin Holpp (Ashley), Jessica Hall (Jeremy), Sarah Holpp, Eric Holpp, and Jason Cottrille (Crissy).

Eleven great grandchildren, Amber and Clayton Alexander, Landon, Branson, and Sophie Hall, Jackson Holpp, Hunter Thompson, Andrew Clevenger, and Tylor, Dereck, and Janson Cottrille; two great great grandchildren, Maddison and Cole Cottrille; one sister, Betty Fern Weaver, along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Vonda Gunn, infant sister Dorothy, and one infant granddaughter, Chree Ann Holpp.

Services will be Saturday, March 30, 2013, 11 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastors Cindy Eakle and Danny McVey officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Friday, March 29, from 2-4 and 6-8 at the funeral home.
