Two fire departments put out brush fire caused by downed power line

Smithville firemen fill water bags to fight fire

Winds gusting up to 40 mph downed a tree on a power line on Leading Creek at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, causing a brush fire.

Firemen from the Grantsville and Smithville VFDs responded to the incident and brought the fire under control.

A number of customers were out of power in the area.

The power company was on scene working on the problem.

The fire spread to a small area of a hillside above Leading Creek Road.
