FFA MEMBERS ATTEND WV SMALL FARM CONFERENCE

(L-R) Logan McKown, Darrien McKown, Nicholas Smith, and Hillary Lane Submitted by Don Poage Calhoun County FFA Advisor Four Calhoun FFA members attended the small farm conference held in Morgantown, February 28th. The students pictured above attended 3 youth agriculture entrepreneurship workshops before attending a special luncheon and awards presentation. In December, Nick Smith and Hillary Lane submitted old pictures with a writing assignment based upon agriculture over 20 years ago. With 62 articles submitted throughout the state, Hillary received 3rd place Honorable Mention and a check for $25. Her article focused on interviewing her grandmother. Nick Smith was awarded 2nd place in the state and received a check for $75. His article focused on the draft horse and their ability to work the farm. Congratulations to these students for a job well done in the Agriculture Heritage Contest.
