FIRE STRIKES RUBIN RESOURCES SITE IN GILMER COUNTY

(02/12/2013)
A fire at Rubin Resources on Barbecue Run near Letter Gap, Gilmer County, caused a response from the Gilmer County Volunteer Fire Department Monday morning.

Firemen said flames leaped about 100 feet in the air, caused by pockets of gas.

An employee said an oil tank and gas tank underground caught on fire after well oil reportedly spilled onto a pump.

Workers shut off the lines that led to the tank so the department could put out the fire.

Reports said the fire was contained to the storage tanks and in the pit area of the well site.

Crews got the fire under control in just over an hour.

The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection was at the scene.
