Lewis Dayton West, 87 - Spencer

Lewis Dayton West, 87, of Spencer, died Friday February 8, 2013 in the Roane General Hospital, Spencer.

He was born June 8, 1925, at Harmony, a son of the late Charles Dennis and Mary Ann Price West. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Oshel, Buell and Otis West.

Mr. West was a retired employee of Kaiser Aluminum, Ravenswood. He attended Walton High School and was an Army veteran of World War II. Also, he was a member of the Rush Creek Baptist Church, Spencer.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ada Madeline Smith West of Spencer; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Angala West of Spencer; grandchildren, Amanda Jo West and Bradley Kent West; sisters, Freda Scott and Jewell Boggs and her husband Frank of Spencer, Alice Harper and her husband Gerald of Falling Rock, Virginia Raines and her husband, Darrell of Mineral Wells, Irene Allen and her husband Duane of Uniontown, OH, Marie Starcher and her husband Dave of Morehead, KY, Ruth Ray of Ripley; brothers, Charles West, Jr. and his wife Dorma of Spencer, Earl West of Cottageville, Joe West and his wife Irene of Parkersburg.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 12 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Burial, with military honors accorded by the West Virginia Honor Guard, will be in the Swank Cemetery, Speed. Friends may call one hour before the funeral.
