GIFTED GILMER SQUAD DOWNS CALHOUN MIDDLE

Word in the Gilmer sporting community is this year's middle school team may have the most talent of any group that has been there.

Wednesday night they showed a bit of that talent off with a 69-16 victory over visiting Calhoun Middle School.

After taking a 21-4 first quarter lead the Titans were able to put things away quickly.

They outscored Calhoun 15-8 in the second quarter and were on top 36-12 at intermission.

Gilmer outscored Calhoun 20-3 in the third quarter and topped things off with a 13-1 advantage in the fourth period.

Chandler Ferguson led Gilmer with 20. He was backed by Lucas Sirbaugh with 14 and Cole Haley with 11.

Noah Aviles added six while Jared Pritt chipped in with five. Hunter Self and Gunnar Haley added four apiece while Dalton Law had two and Trey Shuff one. Bryce Roberts and Tyler Frashure both played but did not score.

For Calhoun Middle School Chris Thornton led with six points while Zack Yanero added five. Ben Frederick with three and Jerry Jones with two rounded out the scoring for CMS. Buck Marks, Christopher Kirkland and Sonny Wilson all played but did not score.

Gilmer also won the B game with a 64-3 victory over CMS.

Gunnar Haley led Gilmer with 15. Law added 14 and Jesse Marks 10 to round out the double figure scorers. Jacob Persinger had nine, Self and Frashure had five apiece and Pritt and Devin Parsons two each to round out the scoring while Noah Reinhardt played but did not score.

For Calhoun Middle Brady Fox had two and Levi Gregory one.

Marks, Aaron West, Jaron Hall, Ryan Miliron, Johnny Walker, Jakiah Hickman and Nolan Nelson all played but did not score.

Calhoun Middle School returns to action tonight with a doubleheader against Clay Middle School at Mount Zion.
