CALHOUN MAN FACING MULTIPLE METH-MAKING ARRESTS - Roane County Cases

A Calhoun man has been arrested by the Spencer Police Department for operating or attempting to operate a clandestine drug lab.

Jerry Glen McKown, 25, of the Orma/Minnora area, was taken before magistrate Jason Bennett in Spencer and then incarcerated in Central Regional Jail.

Spencer police said they responded to a shoplifting call at WalMart, after McKown allegedly tried to leave the store with items he had purchased and other items he had not paid for.

Patrolman Matt Cooper of the Spencer Police Department, in a criminal complaint, says McKown had cans of starting fluid that contained ether, a package of cold medicine with ephedrine, plastic tubing, lithium batteries and a box cutter.

The officer indicated the items are used in the production of meth.

He is being held on $50,000 bond.

McKown has been facing similar charges in Calhoun Circuit Court.

- Grand larceny auto charges against Latetia Booher, 21, of Arnoldsburg, have been dismissed by a the Roane Co. magistrate court, Booher pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges.

Booher was accused of stealing a car from a Spencer woman, the vehicle found later in Arnoldsburg.

She pled guilty of unlawful taking of a vehicle and driving suspended, fined $100 plus court costs and ordered to pay $250 restitution to the victim.

- Samantha Brooke Starcher of Arnoldsburg was found guilty by a Roane magistrate, fleeing on foot.
